Since the 4th of June 1947, when our Class President, Julian Granberry
conducted the Tassel Ceremony signaling the end of the best days of
our lives, we have gone our separate ways. Our acne has turned to wrinkles
and the shadows of life are lengthening for us. The days of our youth
have vanished and our twilight years are here. The Angel's trumpet has
summoned eleven of our classmates. The bells have tolled and the tears
fell for each of them. They will not grow old as you and I were left
to grow old. Age will not weary them nor years condemn. They have, at
their appointed time, like beautiful rose petals, fallen to the earth
and returned to dust from which we came. But beautiful memories of them
linger on. How well we remember them and those carefree and wonderful
days of childhood we spent together in school. Their smiling faces,
the fun and laughter and the good times we shared together, school dances,
the junior and senior proms, club activities, football games and class
picnics at Sanlando. Our lives have been enriched and filled with special
memories and happy times because they were our classmates and our paths
of life crossed 57 years ago. As we gather to renew old friendships,
we remember our Class Angels. As we remember our Class Angels, may the
special memories and the happy times that we shared with them fill our
hearts and minds with joy and gladness. The earth endures, the stars
abide and the muster rolls on until each of us will join them for the
final reunion.
